Mildred H.N.  Yoshimura
Mildred H. N. Yoshimura, 84, of Wailuku, Maui, a retired Maui High School teacher, died on Oahu. She was born in Lahaina on April 4, 1931 to Harold and Helen Nagamine. Mildred attended Lahainaluna High School, graduating in 1949, and the University of Hawaii, graduating in 1953. While at college, she met the late George Yoshimura of Pahala. George and Mildred were married on June 17, 1956, and together they had two children, Jon and Sandee.

Mildred began her teaching career soon after graduating from the University of Hawaii. She taught for several years on Oahu before moving back to Maui to join the faculty at Maui High School where she taught for nearly 30 years. At Maui High, Mildred taught mathematics and home economics at both the Hamakuapoko and Kahului campuses.

Mildred and her husband, George, were charter members of the Ala Lani Methodist Church, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. She was an active church member serving on various committees.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband George on February 19, 2009. She is survived by son Jon (Yuki) Yoshimura, daughter Sandee (Gerald) Goodbody, sister Florence (Henry) Shimomura, brother Harold (Marian) Nagamine, grandchildren Brandon Yoshimura of Washington, D.C., Andrew Yoshimura of San Diego, CA, and Nathan Freer of San Jose, CA, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
