Obituary for Michele Tay Clarabal

Michele Tay Clarabal, 61


Michele Tay Clarabal of Kāne’ohe passed away in Kailua surrounded by her family on July 4th, 2018. She was born on July 28th, 1956 to Karen and Kenneth Rowe in California.


Michele graduated from Castle High School in 1974. She played volleyball and enjoyed tournaments held by her father Kenneth Rowe. She loved spending her summers in Keaukaha with her Rowe cousins and sisters.


Michele was married to David Keama and together they had five children, Maddy, Charles, Michele, Dayna and Dee-Jay. She later remarried the love of her life, Alehandro “Ali” Clarabal, in 2007 who has two children from his previous marriage, Shawn and Misty Clarabal whom she also considered as her own.


She is also survived by sisters Deborah Kamana’o, Rene Rowe and Kendra Rowe. Michele was the #1 Cheerleader for all of her grandchildren. She is survived by 24 grandchildren; Kawika, Shanley “Titi”, Shan-Tay, Shance, Shaydee, Piper, Anna, Charles, Braven, Tayliana, Ka’ohi, Tia, Jaydee, Jayzen, Jayden, Ikaika, Joseph, Steele, Slade, Blayze, Ke’alohi, Hōkūle’a, Hikianali’a, and Kilinahe. She was also blessed with two great-grand daughter’s Te’a and Shanoa.


There are people in this world who love hard, meaning they love unconditionally, they love with actions, they love with all they have and that was Michele. She truly went above and beyond for her loved ones. She was everyone’s favorite Korean Aunty and favorite cook. She is now at peace and reunited with loved ones who have passed on.


Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Waikalua Chapel on Saturday July 28th, 2018. Viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with services to begin at 11:30 a.m.
