Obituary for Samuel Mun Hee Hung

Samuel Mun Hee Hung passed away on January 19, 2020 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born in Honolulu to the late Norman and Tai Moi Hung. He graduated from Saint Louis High School in 1966 and shortly thereafter went into U.S.N. service, retiring from the Naval Reserve. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He had a long career as a civil servant at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard.

He is greatly missed by his wife, Cynthia Kwon Hung, daughters Lindsey (Khang) Nguyen, Lauren (Ryan N.) Hung and son Jonathan (Vivian) Hung, along with his beautiful 6 grandchildren Samuel Hung, Ellie Nguyen, Shane Hung, Cameron Nguyen, Sydney Hung and Chase Nakamura. He was an avid tennis player, bowler, and golfer, and enjoyed his cars and entertainment systems. Sam had a passion for traveling all over the world in the recent years with his wife, family and friends. He will be forever remembered by his warm smile, jokes, stories and his love of bargaining and getting the best deal. Although he was “pake to the max”, he was a very generous person, always making sure family and friends were taken care of. He will always be in our hearts and thoughts, and we pray he will be looking down and watching out for us always.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Diamond Head Memorial Park with visitation 9:30am and service at 10:30am. Private inurnment at Punchbowl Cemetery at a later date. No flowers, Aloha attire.
