Obituary for Alfred "Jack" Robinson

Alfred “Jack” Robinson, 69, of Kailua, O’ahu, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 16, 2021. He was born in Dallas,Texas to W F Robinson and Nita Mae Robinson.

“Jack spent most of his childhood traveling the country with his parents and two older sisters due to his father’s work. At age 16, his family settled down in Lafayette, Louisiana where he graduated from Cecilia High School in 1968. During his High School years Jack was an avid football player. He attended Louisiana State University where he received a Bachelors Degree in the Fine Arts. He then opened a pottery studio and created many beautiful pieces of art including sculptures and vases.

In 1976 he received his pilot license from Louisiana Tech University. His good friend owned a twin engine plane and they would frequently “cruise” the country, usually to attend large rock concerts and to just have a little fun.

During the early 1980s he also received his plumbing license and took over his Dad’s plumbing business In Lafayette. He loved working with tools and on cars and always was able to figure out how to fix just about anything.

In 1983 Jack came to Hawai’i on a short vacation. It was then that he decided he wanted to spend the rest of his life on this beautiful island. He moved to O’ahu during the summer of 1986. He continued to work in the construction and plumbing business for several years before receiving his Associates Degree as a Paralegal at UH-KCC. He later completed a Real Estate Appraisal Program and in 2006 became a licensed residential real estate appraiser. He founded his own company working from home and appraising properties all over O’ahu. For the past 14 years Jack had become well respected as one of the best appraisers on the island. He completed his last appraisal in November 2020 when his health started declining.

Jack was a dedicated father to his son, daughter and stepson. He guided them to become kind, loving and successful individuals and was always there for them. Jack and wife Martina “Ina” met in 1994 and married in 1998. Despite having many ups and downs and hardships throughout the years, they worked through these difficult times together. The many beautiful memories and love always prevailed.

Until the very end of his life, although he was not afraid of dying, Jack was mostly worried about our well-being after his passing.

The decline of his health was very rapid during the past seven months. He suffered a great deal during this time, emotionally and physically. But he never lost his sense of humor and we were able to have some good laughs together and exchange many memories. Although Jack kept fighting and was determined to get better, his frail body simply couldn’t take it any longer.

Our hearts are heavy and feel broken right now but we will continue to live the life that he wanted us to live. Jack had so many ideas and plans for the future, our future. We will continue to honor them.

May you Rest In Peace. We love you deeply. You lived an amazing life filled with adventures, versatility, courage and honesty.”

Jack is survived by wife Martina Ries of Kailua, O'ahu, son Nicolas Evan Robinson of Kailua, O'ahu, daughter Sophia Katarina Robinson of Kailua, O'ahu and Stepson Alexander Ray Ries with Kelsey Ries of Atlanta, Georgia, Nephew Mark Greenough of La Crescenta, California with daughters Jessica and Kimberly, Brother-in-Law Thorsten Jung of Frankfurt, Germany with twin sons Eric and Marc.
