Obituary for Darlynn Battung Shinsato

Darlynn was born on November 6, 1958 in Honolulu to Eustaquio and Maria Battung. She was
the youngest of six children, Antonia, Aida, Alice, Arthur, and Darell.

Survived by Husband Edwin Shinsato, Daughters Jennifer (Aaron) Rivera, Mandy (Angel) Villa,
Grandsons Luke and Ezra Rivera, and Romeo and Cody Villa, Siblings Antonia Willits, Aida
Otey, and Darell Battung.

As Darlynn grew up she studied the Bible and learned about Jehovah God. Moved by her love
of what she learned she dedicated here life to Jehovah and was baptized on August 9, 1974.
Throughout her life she served as a full time volunteer for a total of 15 years.

Darlynn married Edwin on October 7, 1979. They were married for 43 years. They raised two
daughters Jennifer and Mandy. Darlynn was a hard working wife and mother. When she had
free time she enjoyed singing Karaoke. As a family they loved spending time together,
especially in the preaching work every Saturday. Even when the girls became teenagers the
family would always hang out, browsing Tower Records or getting Pralines and Cream
milkshakes from Baskin-Robins, Darlynn’s favorite. They also loved to travel together.

Darlynn and Edwin became grandparents with the birth of Luke, Romeo, Cody, and Ezra,
respectively. Darlynn loved her grandsons so much. While she was well, she watched Luke
and later Romeo on a regular basis. She loved being their Grandma. While the younger two
only knew Grandma when she was sick, Darlynn would always acknowledge Cody and Ezra
and let them hug her.

Darlynn believed in the Bible’s hope of the Resurrection. She firmly believed that God has both
the ability and the desire to bring back the dead. He keeps in his limitless memory a detailed
record of each person he will resurrect by means of his almighty power (Job 14: 14, 15). We
eagerly await the time that we can welcome Darlynn back on a paradise earth. Until then we
will fondly remember Darlynn as a beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunty and friend.
