Obituary for David Kwai Hung "Dave" Hee

David “Dave” Kwai Hung Hee, 54, of Kaneohe, Oahu, was born on April 29, 1967. Dave passed away peacefully at Pali Momi Medical Center on November 5, 2021. He was surrounded by his wife Sandra, family, and friends. Dave’s warmth and big heart was felt by many—he was a beloved after-school care provider and youth worker and always stopped to chat with a familiar face wherever he went. Dave built lifelong friendships through his passions of surfing, art, Takenouchi-ryū martial arts, food, Japanese culture and traditional weaponry, and woodworking. Dave left us too early at such a young age, but his playful sense of humor and deep love for family will live with us forever.

Dave is survived by his wife of 18 years, Sandra Hee; his cherished fur babies, Mojo, Zoe, Taco, and Piko; two siblings, Daven Hee (Barbie Hee) and Debbie Esteban; six nieces, one nephew; twelve grandnieces and grandnephews; and many extended family members and friends. Dave’s parents Kenneth and Margaret Hee predeceased him. Dave graduated in 1985 from James B. Castle High School.
