RICHARD MORENO FELIMER, SR., 82, of Pearl City, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2021 at Aloha Nursing & Rehab Centre in Kaneohe. Born in Makaweli, Kauai, Richard moved to Oahu at a young age, growing up in Aiea, then Waipahu. After graduating from Waipahu High School, he joined the U.S. Navy for one tour, then became a Seabee in the Navy Reserve. After 44 years of service, he retired as a Pipefitter Foreman of Shop 56 at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. Richard was also extremely involved and a very dedicated member and officer of several fraternal Masonic organizations as Past Worshipful Master of Pearl Harbor Lodge, Past Potentate of Aloha Temple Shriners and Past Master of Command for the Legion of Honor, member of the Honolulu Scottish Rite, Eastern Star Harmony Chapter, the Knights of Pythias, and a few other prominent Clubs. He was an out-spoken person, a great leader, and always willing to step up where there was a need. He volunteered a lot of his time at various Shriners’ events, most notably the Annual Aloha Temple Steak Dinners at the Beach Club. Richard was also very competitive as an avid sports and outdoors fan. He was a season ticket holder of UH Wahine Volleyball and Warrior Football for many years, loved to watch boxing, enjoyed golfing, playing Makule League softball, going camping every summer, hunting on Molokai, scuba diving, spearfishing, net crabbing, and coached baseball for the Pearl City Little League for several years. He was a STL Crusader and SHA Lancer at heart, being very supportive of his children’s and grandchildren’s school and sports events, was always there to cheer them on or toughen them up, and even accompanied his youngest grandchild to National volleyball events on the mainland.
He will be dearly missed, but forever in our hearts as a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather.
Richard is preceded in death by eldest sister, Gloria (Roy) Ebalaroza, his eldest daughter, Penelope Kalani, and is survived by his wife of 56 years, Florence Leilani; daughter Jacqueline (Randall) Burnett; son Richard, Jr.; sisters Elaine (John) Jackson, Linda (Joseph) Litton, Anita Lorraine (Chris) Lafrenz , Arlene (Chris) Jansen, Natalie (Terry) Fowler; brother Eugene; grandchildren Patrick Nobriga II; Jaxon Nobriga; Leilani Kesting; Kamalei Levy; Ryanne “Cookie” Burnett; hanai grandchildren Aysia (Justin) Souza; Randall Burnett, Jr.; and great-grandchildren Oshen Nobriga and Carsyn Souza.
