Obituary for Robert Duane Helser

Robert Duane Helser (Sr.), 85 passed away on August 16, 2021. He resided on the Wai’anae Coast (Nānākuli) for 50+ years. He is originally from Beloit, Rock, Wisconsin. He was a Staff Sargent (E6) in the USMC, and served in Vietnam for many tours. After retiring from the military, he worked as a Naval Base Police Officer at Pearl Harbor, then at Lualualei Magazine in Nānākuli. Robert also worked part time for Hawai’i Protection Agency, and later worked as a security guard at Makahā Towers. He also attended New York Technical Institute where he learned mechanics and repair. His interment will be at The National Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) on November 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.

He is survived by his wife Delores (Dolly) Ancheta-Helser from Kaua’i. He is also survived by his brother Ralph (Rita-Rae) Helser. He is predeceased by his brothers Richard, Rudolf, Ronald, Raymond, his sister Rosalind Helser, and parents Erving and Helen Helser. He is adored by his children (biological and by marriage) Glenda M (Jon) Buis of Ewa, Jo Ann (Robert) Hema of Ma’ili, the late Alfonso (Gus) Garcia Jr., Christine (Mark) Watten of Kaua’i, Robert (Bobby) Helser Jr. of Wai’anae, Elmira “Dolly” (Ronald) Helser-Gionson of Las Vegas, Pastor Tommy (Jean) Helser of Maui, Patty Helser-Yancey of Mililani, Barry (Miranda) Helser of Wai’anae, Sandy Ann Cuarisma of Hobbs, NM, Dorrifer “Dori” “Nani” Cuarisma of Nānākuli, and Linda Helser of Las Vegas. Robert has 34 grandchildren, and 46 great-grandchildren.
