Obituary for Roy Kiyoshi Hirokawa

Roy “Sam” Kiyoshi Hirokawa
September 08, 1939 - July 22, 2022

Dr. Roy K. Hirokawa O.D., son of James and Kanai, passed away peacefully,
surrounded by his family, in his Kaneohe home on the island of Oahu. His legacy of
service, music, and faith lives on through his wife and eternal companion, Jeanne S.
Dickson – his children, Richele (Kenny), Joni (Deceased), Marti Ann (Craig), Micah
(Liza), Sarah (Nate), Jeremy (Jennifer), Benjamin (Kealohapauole), Rachel (Michael),
Timothy (Cara), John (Katie), and his 28 grandchildren. He also has an older brother
Howard (Deceased) and two living sisters, Myrtle Kaneshiro and Dorothy Kometani.

Roy is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He
was also a Son of Iolani School (class of ‘57) and went on to graduate from Pacific
University. He will receive an officers’ burial as a retired, full Colonel in the United
States Army Reserves. Roy served everyone around him by sharing his music, talking
story, opening his home, and most of all through his priceless smile. We are confident
his Aloha will live on within us all.
