Obituary for Salvador "Sal" Nillias

On Sunday December 4,2022, surrounded by family, Salvador "Sal" Nillias, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 89.

Born in Honolulu to Paula Magsayo and Francisco Nillias on November 9,1933, Sal grew up in the Kaka'ako area. He attended Central Intermediate School and graduated from Mckinley High School. He served in the US Air Force and was part of the refueling crew on US aircraft carriers. On December 3, 1960, he married the love of his life, Janet Bautista. They had four children. He was a Project Manager for GE Electrical Supplies and Amfac Electric Supply Company and retired in 1994. He was a Commissioned Lector for the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa and a very active member of the Catholic Church.

Sal is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Janet Bautista Nillias, his daughters, Susan Kaye Nillias (John Tingey), Janice Knapp (Aaron Kapp), Iwalani Andres (Rayne Andres), and brother Jesus "Tommy" Nelias (Dolores Nelias). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Randi, Alika (Aleksandra), Taylor, Robby, Matthew, Eryn, Christian, Zachary, Caleb, and Mckenzie. He is preceded in death by his son, Philip Walton Nillias.

Sal will forever be remembered by his family, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
