Obituary for Samuel Kanaole David Jr.

The family of Samuel David Jr., 81, of Honokaa, Hawaii, announces his departure from this life to be in the presence of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior on October 26, 2020. He was surrounded with spirit filled praise and worship. Samuel was born on January 26, 1939 in Kona, Hawaii.

A simple and generous man, he loved God and was always willing to help when needed. Growing up on the Big Island, he played Minor league baseball, picked coffee and enjoyed going holo holo.

As an adult, Sam (aka) held numerous positions at Hawaiian Cement, Hilo Iron Works, Hamakua Sugar Plantation and Arakaki Mechanical. He was a Welder, Supervisor and Project Coordinator. He was also a Deacon at Kona Gospel Chapel and was active in helping to restore the church.

Samuel was loved by wife of 46 years, Nora; children Helen "Kealani", Samuel "Gordon" (Yolanda), Charles, Louise (Jeff), Charis (Duane), and step-son James (Linda); siblings are Leilani, Gwen (Randy), Albert (Mildred), Walter (Joanne), Marilyn (Momdua), Joanne (Prince), Myra (Norman) and John. He was blessed to have numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
