Obituary for Sharolyn Pi'ilani Kekumu

Sharolyn Piʻilani Kekumu, 61, of Nānākuli, Oʻahu sadly passed away on 23 July 2022 at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center. She went peacefully in her sleep.

A proud Kānaka Maoli and Homemaker, Piʻilani radiated the Aloha spirit and strived to live Pono. Whether at home or out and about, she greeted everyone with a big smile and hug. On most days, you could find Piʻilani with the dogs under the plumeria tree listening to her bible sermons or under the Christmas berry tree talking story with her favorite neighbor and dearest Sis Cathy. She loved to go holoholo with her SiL Natalie and Julie. Above all, Piʻilani was the happiest when she was surrounded by her ohana. Everyone gathered in the yard, the keikis running around, the smell of ono food on the grill, the boys jamming on the Ukuleles, a cribbage game in progress, stories being shared, and memories being made. Piʻilani was very much loved by her ohana and will be sorely missed.

She is predeceased by her Father Horace Kekumu Jr., Mother Mrytle Kekumu (Lopes) and Brother Peter Antone Lopes. She is survived by her daughter, Chandralean Lozada-Kekumu; her sons, Jose (Charron) Lozada-Kekumu and Juan (Ana) Lozada-Kekumu; her grandchildren, Jaelyn and Jazylle Kelly-Lozada; brother, Horace Kekumu III; Sister-in-Laws, Julie Kekumu and Natalie Lopes; Nephews, Jesse and Joey Kekumu, Peter and Landon (Alex) Lopes; Nieces, Jenna Kekumu and Ashlyn (Jansen) Lopes; Grandnephew, Kekoa Robinson and Grandniece, Anela Ines.

A private service will be held 11 Aug 22. The Celebration of Life and scattering of ashes will take place at a later date.
