Obituary for Tiare Kalani Fonoimoana-Lessary

Tiare Kalani Fonoimoana-Lessary, 47, of Hauula, Oahu peacefully passed away surrounded by loved one’s in her Hau’ula home on August 20th, 2021 after a valiant battle with cancer.


She was born on December 16th,1973 in Kahuku, Oahu to Ferron and Lucie Fonoimoana of Hauula. Tiare attended Kahuku High and graduated, Class of 1991, a proud “Red Raider for Life.” She went on to further her education at Heald college in Honolulu graduating in Honors with an Associates of Applied Science in Legal Administration and Computer Business Administration in 2003. Tiare held a successful career as a Social Service Worker in the Department of Human Services (Kaneohe Office) for the State of Hawaii. She was happily married to her highschool sweetheart, Benjamin Lessary, who was her best friend and partner in life.


She is survived by her husband, her four children: Benjamin Lessary Jr., Cheyenne Leiataua, Catherine Tuua, and Coco Leigacee Mama Lessary (her dog-ter); her three grandchildren: Manutea Leiataua, Tehare Tuua, and Benjamin Fonoimoana-Lessary III; her siblings: Almo Fonoimoana and Shanya Fonoimoana; her parents, and many other loved ones.


Tiare was a compassionate, loving, hard working, responsible, witty and humble individual. Her infectious smile and positive attitude lit up every room she stepped in. She lived a life full of service, actively serving her family, church, and community. Her love language was helping and making others feel special. Besides serving others, she loved to travel, dance, coordinate events, cook, watch TV and enjoyed going to DisneyLand, Universal Studios, and Las Vegas with her husband. Above all, she was an incredible daughter, amazing wife, dedicated mother, and devoted grandmother who cherished and loved her grandchildren more than anything. She’s touched many lives with her love and passion for life, and will be greatly missed, forever loved, and always remembered.


Services will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Hau’ula Makai Chapel - 53-958 Kamehameha Highway, Hau’ula, HI 96717. Family viewing will be from 8-9am; public viewing, 9-11am; and the funeral services from 11-12:30pm.

Burial to follow at Hau’ula Cemetery.
