William Kanila Tripp Ernestburg, 85, of Laie, HI, passed away April 30, 2021, at home. Born October 16, 1935 in Honolulu, HI.
William was involved in Scouting for over 55 years and was a Silver Beaver recipient; a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper. He worked at Hawaii Stevedores, Inc., the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers Pacific Ocean Division, Church College of Hawaii, Oahu Correctional Community Center (OCCC) and Polynesian Cultural Center. He retired from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and the Polynesian Cultural Center.
Proceeded in death by his wife Aalaonaonakekaiohaena Emma Safuiago Kaleikini “Aunty Emma ”, Willemma H. K. Kekahuna (Damien) and his parents: George Kala and Violet K. Papu, siblings: Brothers, George K. Jr., Michael S. K., Donald F., Sisters, Sarah Ann, Annette K. Violet K. Merseberg and Emmalia A. Wesley. He is survived by his Children: Sons, William K. T. Ernestburg III (Anne), McKay K. K. Ernestburg (Leimomi); Daughters, Cirilla M. K. Paclib, Leialoha G. K. Mataalii (Lincoln), Gilberta K. L. Ernestburg, Siliwa G. K. Ernestburg, grandchilds, great grandchilds and great-great grandchildrens; and Brother, Samuel L.
Due to COVID 19 CDC guidelines wearing of face mask at all times and social distancing of 6ft is required while in the church facility. There will be sanitization stations throughout the facility.
Public visitation 9:00 am-10:00 am Thursday May 13, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Laie 7th Ward (55-600 Naniloa Lp., Laie). Funeral Services 10:30 am Burial 11:45 am at Laie Cemetery.
