Obituary for Dorothy Eloise Kenner (Tollekson)

Dorothy Eloise Kenner, 100, of Hawaii Kai died peacefully on October 10th, 2016, at Saint Francis Hospice.
She was born in Iowa on September 15th, 1916.
In 1936, she married George McKool and began raising her two daughters in Watertown, SD. In 1942, the family moved to Long Beach, CA, to help in the war effort where she and George found work at Douglas Aircraft building B-17s. Dorothy was “Rosie the Riveter.” After the war, Dorothy worked for Pacific Bell Telephone first as a telephone operator and later a salesperson. Widowed too young, Dorothy later met her second husband, Delmar Kenner. Their favorite pastime was traveling in their motorhome to the mountains or lake with their many grandchildren. Moving to Hawaii in 1999, Dorothy and Del enjoyed their retirement years here together until Del passed in 2002.
Dorothy is known for her great love for her family and Catholic faith, her keen sense of humor, and twinkling blue eyes.

She is preceded in death by her two daughters Sharon Darrow and Judith McKenna and two husbands, George Mckool and Delmar Kenner.
She is survived by son-n-law William Darrow, granddaughter, Stephanie Darrow, 4 other grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Services 10:00 am, Friday, October 28th, at Holy Trinity Church, 5919 Kalanianiole Hwy, Niu Valley.
