Eugene Kaleilehua Kia Sr. “Governor” 79, of Hilo and Waimanalo, died in Hilo on Friday, March 2, 2018. He was born on December 17, 1938 in Hilo (Keaukaha). He was a retired Mechanic and Maintenance Supervisor for Convalescent Center of Honolulu and Gems Department Store. Eugene is survived by his wife, Elaine (Asam); sons, Eugene Jr., Elroy (preceded); daughters, Ella, Lani, Ewa, Mel, Elise; brothers, Manuel and Ernest Halican; 23 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. on March 31, 2018 at Ballard Family Moanalua Mortuary; Service at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Flowers and leis welcome.
