Andrei Victorovich Sherstyuk, 51, of Honolulu, Hawaii passed away on August 04, 2016 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He was born in the USSR.
Andrei was a software engineer for the University of Hawaii's ATLAS project, the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System, http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/info/press-releases/ATLAS/,
a new NASA-funded telescope system to look for asteroids that might impact the Earth. Andrei wrote software critical to the operation of the telescope instruments and to identify asteroids in the telescope system's image data.
He is survived by his wife, Ekaterina Sherstyuk
